Ramazan Feast Celebration at Albuquerque Raindrop Turkish House

abqramadanfeastThe Turkish- American community celebrated Ramadan feast at the Raindrop Turkish House in Albuquerque. People from Albuquerque, Santa Fe, Los Alamos and Socorro gathered early in the morning for the special bayram prayer in their best clothes. After the bayram prayer, adults greeted one another wholeheartedly; children honored the hand-kissing custom (kissing an adult's right hand and placing it on one's forehead as a sign of love and respect), while wishing their elders kids got special presents and gifts along with sweets and a bayram tip. Following the prayer and greetings, all the participants enjoyed bayram breakfast which was sponsored by a local businessman, Muhterem Yildirim from Santa Fe. Children were surprised and happy when they got special prepared gifts. Children also enjoyed jumper and piñata game. Adults who are interested in soccer watched the soccer game between Besiktas vs. Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality S.C. It was an unforgettable day for everybody.
