Oklahoma City’s annual Turkish Festival drew a steady crowd all day last Saturday, surging to a nearly packed house by early evening.
The event was an inviting mix of authentic Turkish food, such as doner, dolma, pastries, baklava, kabab. After tasting the delicious Turkish dishes, visitors had the pleasure of drinking Turkish Tea in the oriental corner.

OKLAHOMA CITY-Over the past three years ,the nonprofit organization Raindrop Turkish House has transformed a 10,700 –square –foot office building into a Turkish cultural oasis on Nort classen boulevard.Visitors to raindrop at 4444 Nort classen blvd .are greeted with Turkish baklava .The organization hosts everything from Turkish dinners to cooking classes in the space, which also includes a coffee bar and cultural exhibits.Oklahoma city’s Turkish population is small.About 200 to 300 turkish people live in the metro area,said orhan kucuk osman ,executive director of Raindrop’s Oklahoma chapter.

ANNUAL INTERNATIONAL FESTIVAL AT METROPOLITAN LIBRARY
Raindrop Turkish House of Oklahoma city attended the International Festival of Metropolitan Library which featured a wide variety of performances, demonstrations, arts, and crafts celebrating cultures from all around the world.
The event was filled with a crowd of people from Oklahoma City. The Raindrop Turkish House’s booth had a lot of visitors trying to taste the famous Turkish cuisines sarma, borek and baklava. Visitors enjoyed watching the live demonstration of Ebru (the art of water Marbling). They had a chance to try Ebru.

Cultural Diversity Essay Awards Given
Nearly 100 Oklahoma students participated in the 1st Annual Essay Contest on “The Beauty of Cultural Diversity” sponsored by the Oklahoma City branch of the Raindrop Turkish House. The awards ceremony took place Monday evening in the Adams Recital Hall on the Campus of Oklahoma Christian University. Prior to the awards ceremony, guests were treated to baklava and a showing of OC’s senior art students’ works in the campus Art Gallery.
The award ceremony started with a welcome by Dr. Allison Garrett, Senior Vice President of the Oklahoma Christian University, who noted that OC has students from 60 countries. Dr. Garrett said it was a privilege for Oklahoma Christian to host the program on cultural diversity.
