What have we done for Citizenship Week at Raindrop Turkish House/Houston?

P1060931During the month of November, Raindrop Turkish House/Houston organized 6 great events about Citizenship Week. Raindrop Turkish House is proud to serve the community with this events.

1.English Classes for Newcomers 11/12/2012, 9am-11am
One of the first challenges new immigrants face upon arrival in US is language barrier. Our organization will hold English classes to help new immigrants integrate in the American society faster.

2.Cuisine Classes/American Taste 11/17/2012, 11am-1pm
International food is very common and prevalent in US and sometimes we forget about our own national food. The purpose of this event is to teach fellow citizens delicious samples from American cuisine.



3.Kid's club activity-What is it to be an American Citizen? 11/17/2012, 12:10 pm-12:30pm
It is essential to teach our children what it means to be an American citizen. There are many ways we can be proud of being an American citizen. This event will teach our children the meaning of being an American.



4.Neighborhood Gathering Party (potluck party) 11/17/2012, 7pm
Getting to know our neighbors and establishing good relations within the community are good ways to strengthen our communities. This neighborhood gathering party will be a good place to get to know our neighbors.



5.US National Anthem Competition 11/17/2012, 12:00pm noon
While listening to our national anthem, we feel proud and sometimes tears even may come down. However, singing it well is also important. This competition will arouse awareness about the Star-Spangled Banner.



6.Movie Night: About American Citizenship   11/16/2012, 8pm
Getting together for a movie night can be both fun and informative. This event is geared towards both. We will both enjoy a movie and learn about what it is to be an American.
