11th Annual Turkish Festival in Austin
austin fest 2015 Raindrop Turkish House organized one of the best spring festivals in Austin this year! With around 3,000 visitors and tens of booths -both vendors and non-profit organizations- it was such a memorable day! Like each year, the highlights of the festival were traditional Turkish food, coffee, unique Turkish arts and folk dances this year, too! Visitors had the previlige of tasting from a large varity of delicious Turkish food such as "baklava", "lahmacun", "dolma"s, traditional "börek"s, kebaps and "gozleme" which were prepared and cooked during the festival.. They also tasted delicious Turkish Coffee which was made and served hot during the festival with unique traditional coffee cups.. The festival was so colorful with so many vendors selling from scarves to traditional hand-made shoes, from jewelery to home-made jams and pickles.. Also, traditional Turkish arts' booths like Ebru (watermarbling) and calligraphy were the favorites of so many visitors! Artists demonstrated all day long.
Festival began with two speeches given by Representative Cesar Blanco and former Congressman Pete Gallego. They both mentioned about how much they enjoyed the event and also the importance of such events in terms of bringing people together from so many different religious and cultural backgrounds and give them a chance to know each other and share!
Kids were not forgotten during the festival, too! There was so much fun for them, too, such as bounce house, balloons, two amazing clown showa, ice-cream and more!
