Members of the Raindrop Turkish House and†Texas Turkish American Chamber of Commerce (TTACC) hosted†Eli Cox, the chairman of the marketing department at the McCombs School of Business at University of Texas at Austin (UT) to discuss a possible collaboration between Raindrop Turkish House, TTACC, and UT's School of Business for business networking trip to Turkey.†After a traditional dinner, delicious Turkish delight brought by Dr. Cox and homemade Turkish desserts were enjoyed. Levent Ulusal, the vice president of Texas Turkish-American Chamber of Commerce, made a presentation about the†Texas Turkish-American Chamber of Commerce and Tuskon (short for Confederation of Businessmen and Industrialists of Turkey), which is currently the largest civic organization in Turkey with 15000 members.†

 
Raindrop Turkevi Austin holds annual picnic

Raindrop Turkevi Austin held its third annual picnic Saturday at Northwest District Park . "This truly has turned out to be a large, community and fun event for all and BBQ was delicious" Omer ,student at TIP,said. With help from TAWA, Raindrop prepared meat ball, hamburgers,kebap, several types of patty, baklava, pasta salad, drinks and fruit, including sliced watermelon. Fatih,civil engineer,† and BBQ team started serving at 1 p.m. and the event continued until 5:15 p.m. "The kids love it. When we go through the year pictures and I ask my children what was your favorite moment last year, they says ëAnnual Picnic Day,' " Celil said.

Essentials of Rumiís Thoughts

rumi1.JPG†Gulen Institute, †Institute of Interfaith Dialog and University of Texas at Austin sponsored the conference called "Essentials of Rumi's Thoughts" at Thompson Conference Center on April 26th, 2008. The goal of the conference is to investigate patterns and dynamics of the essentials of Rumi's thoughts and to investigate how, even seven hundred years after his time, Rumi still attracts many people from various backgrounds. Proceedings of this conference will be published by the Institute of Interfaith Dialog.

UT Austin hosted the first ever Nowruz in Austin
festaus.JPG†University of Texas (UT) at Austin hosted the first ever Spring Festival, Nowruz. The event's major sponsors were Raindrop Turkish House and Turkic Cultures Student Association in which participation was over 500 spectators. Representative bodies and communities from Azerbaijan, Turkey, Turkmenistan, Kazakhstan, and Uzbekistan celebrated the rich mosaic of variant cultures and heritages. (March 21, 2008, Austin, TEXAS)

The 1st Austin Citywide Turkish Olympiad

Students from all over the†city of†Austin will compete in total†4 categories ranging from singing contests, poetry contests, presentation contests and†talent contests . The winners of each category will be awarded based on placement and first place winners will be sent to†State wide†in representing Austin
