Representative Strama visits Raindrop Austin

Texas State representative Mark Strama visited Raindrop Foundation on Sunday, October 28th. Members of the Raindrop Turkevi Foundation, Institute of Interfaith Diaolog(IID) and Turkish American Women's Association(TAWA) hosted† Representative Strama and talked to him about their organization's†mission and activities. After enjoying the traditional†Turkish dinner, which TAWA members prepared, several short videos screened about Turkey and IID. Representative Strama said he liked the Turkish food very much and will be looking forward another Raindrop Turkevi event to come again. He also stated that he was impressed by the activities IID does for global peace. Before He left Raindrop Turkevi Foundation, a Raindrop Turkevi volunteer, gave a gift to Representative Strama and pictures taken with other attendees.† (October 28 2007, Austin,TX)

Ottoman Military Band to visit Austin

Raindrop Turkevi , Turkish Cultural Center, is proud to bring this important historic band to Texas and would like to share with you the following performance program of the Ottoman Military Band:

Raindrop Austin Hosted Asian Students

Raindrop foundation in Austin hosted a group of Asian students. In a warm atmosphere, participants had the opportunity to chat with each other while enjoying home made Turkish food. After the dinner, which was catered by the Turkish American Women Association (TAWA), Mr. Sari gave a presentation about Turkey and Istanbul while the group enjoyed traditional Turkish coffee prepare by a TAWA volunteer. Various games including table tennis concluded the night.

Alparslan, a Raindrop volunteer said "We are glad to share Turkish culture with people from different parts of the World. This event was a good chance to discover Turkey and Turkish culture. I think dialog and understanding each other are very important so organizing events such as this is a very good idea. I believe that our friendship has improved after tonight." He added that the Raindrop Foundation will continue to organizing events like this one. (July 18,2007, Austin,TX)


Raindrop Austin Hosted "Goodbye" Party!

holding_hands.jpg Raindrop foundation in Austin hosted a party in the honor of Turkish people who leave Austin for various reasons. In a very warm atmosphere, participants talked to each other while enjoying delicious Turkish food.

For the purpose of higher education and work, some of our Turkish friends in Austin are leaving. Those who leave and who go on their lives in Austin had a chance to meet with each other and have fun for the last time through "goodbye" party. As the time passed everybody was surrounded by sorrow since the separation moment was getting closer.

Raindrop also gave gifts to our fellow Turkish friends who are leaving at the end of the party.† Fatih, a Raindrop volunteer said "We are having this party to show that our Turkish friends, who have to leave Austin, are not alone." He also said raindrop will go on organizing such events to help Turkish people not to forget our cultural values such as friendship and brotherhood. (June 26,2007, Austin,TX)
